A well-fitted men's jacket has shoulder seams sitting exactly at the edge of the shoulders without overhang. The chest should close comfortably over a mid-layer (shirt or light sweater) without pulling. Jacket length for most casual styles should fall to the top of the hip. Sleeves should expose approximately 1cm of shirt cuff at the wrist when arms are straight. The jacket should not restrict arm movement when lifted — if the entire jacket rides up when arms are raised, the body length or shoulder width is too small.
